Get in Touch

This is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody or release, free anyone, post bond, or retrieve an official booking record. The agency that holds the record must answer those requests.

Choose the Correct Roanoke Office

Roanoke County/Salem Jail and Western Virginia Regional Jail are separate facilities in Salem, and Roanoke City is a different locality. Use the contact that owns the custody event. Hours were not published for the Sheriff's jail units, WVRJ records contacts, VADOC correspondence office, or District 15 in the reviewed sources. Call ahead to confirm office hours before an in-person visit.

These routes match the most common questions:

  • For a released person or release record, the home page sets out the full official search and records-request path.
  • For supervision after release, use Probation & Parole, the VADOC locator, and District 15.
  • For a recent local event, review Jail Releases: 24 Hours, then confirm with the custodian because no complete official same-day feed exists.
  • For an expected date or alert, use Projected Release and VINELink Inmate Search. Virginia VINE help is 1-800-467-4943, with TTY at 1-866-847-1298.
  • For a particular custodian, use the facility pages in the footer and contact the office that created the booking, transfer, or release record.
  • For a state-responsible person, use the VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator. VADOC Victim Services and NAAVI can be reached at 1-800-560-4292 or victimservices@vadoc.virginia.gov for eligible post-sentence notifications.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the official BOP Inmate Locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator. A federal pretrial matter may instead require the court docket, U.S. Marshals Service, and holding facility.
